Genuine question.

The societal art of wearing items of clothing 'ironically' has always sort of baffled me. It's just a bit too hipster cool-conscious vehemently-yet-rigidly individualist for my taste. Also I lack the ability to wear things ironically because I only ever wear things I truly enjoy or want to put on. Which isn't to say that I'm a 'safe' or prudish fashionista. (Though I do firmly believe in and espouse the need for undergarments.) It's just more accurate to say that when I wear my Jem and the Holograms t-shirt it's not because I'm doing a wink-wink throwback maneuver designed to increase my cool status, it's because I honestly always wanted to be a Misfit or have a Synergy of my own and some things never change. So I don't subscribe to wearing things ironically as a general rule. But I do have a genuine question on the topic.

Has enough time passed since the Lord of the Rings fever-dream that wearing my a Legolas tee would now be considered ironic? Or is it still the indelible mark of an Elf nerd?

Purely as an academic question.
